I’m an oil painter working under the name Painterly Marianne, focused on capturing form, light, and presence through a painterly, observational approach. My work ranges from intimate studies to large-scale paintings, often centered on animals and the figure. I’m drawn to subjects that hold a quiet intensity—where subtle shifts in value and edge can suggest both structure and emotion. Rather than overworking detail, I aim to simplify and refine, allowing the subject to emerge naturally through layered paint and selective focus. Each piece is an exploration of restraint—what to define, and what to leave unresolved.
In addition to larger works, I maintain an ongoing practice of small studies and ACEOs (Art Cards, Editions, and Originals). These pieces allow for a more immediate, intuitive process while remaining grounded in the same principles of observation and design.
I am based in New Jersey, and original works are available through this site. Commissions are also available on a limited basis.
